Week #2 Continued.. Nature & Character of God

Continued..
Week Two Day Two-Five.

A brief overview of the rest of the week with David Gava.
  • Nature is who God is that we cannot be, Character of God is who we can be.
  • God is uncreated, Eternal, Everlasting, without beginning or end.

Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.
Psalms Ninety v Two

I am the first and the last; there is no other God.
Isaiah Forty Four v Six

For through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see - such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.
Colossians One v Sixteen

  • When you don't have a revelation on the Nature and Character of God you have unbelief.
  • God has never failed you! if God has never failed us, why do we struggle to trust him? If God has never failed us, why do we think he will? Sometimes we think God has failed us, but he hasn't and never will.
  • Christ didn't die for a denomination, he died for a person. He died for you!

What do you do, when you don't know what to do?

- Ask God

  • If you have a plan B & C that's not trusting the Lord, that's unbelief.
  • Blessed are the flexible, for they will not break.

Who is God that we cannot be?
Our God is Infinite, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent
Who God is that we are..
Our God is Personal, Intellect, Emotional, Volition
Who God is that we are to become..
Our God is Loving, Holy, Wise, Faithful, Just, Merciful, Gracious, Good, Kind, Forgiving
What God does with who he is..
God is our Father, our King, our Lord, our Saviour, our Counsellor. But most of all, he is our Friend.

Perfect Love casts out all fear! Where there is love there is no fear. When it is perfect you cannot add or subtract anything to it. Fear is one thing that finders our relationship with God.

  • Your theology should not change the character of God. If it does, you need to change your theology.
  • Without God we cannot. Without us God will not.
  • The way you see yourself is so different to the way God sees you. When you look in the mirror, are you happy with what you see?
  • If you want God to be true in your life you must STOP listening to all the other voices. If you want to fulfil Gods plan for your life all you need is trust.
  • God wants to heal you so you can go out and bring healing and restoration in other peoples lives. Let self die and let Christ be exalted in your life.
  • God needs to enlarge our container so we can contain more of him. But we must learn more and have the passion to want to full the container up.
  • Your not meant to stay where you are! God has so much more in store for you. All you need to do is let him move and trust him.
  • It doesn't matter what  has happened in your past, we have a big God who conquers all. No past is too big for him.

On the Friday, our last day with David we changed things up a bit. Started the day with David speaking then went into a time of worship where David came around everyone to pray for each person. I got pulled up the front where David asked me, "Are you ready, are you ready to give up everything for the plan God has for you?" He then began to prophesy over me and speak into my life. I felt such an overwhelming sense of the presence of God! Gets me so excited for what's going to happen next!

Every second weekend we have the Twenty Four hour burn in the prayer room, where we have to spend eight hours there each within the twenty four hours. The prayer room is such a powerful place, every week seeing miracle after miracle happening. My friend Sarah and I had the wonderful privilege to pray for another New Zealand friend of ours where we saw breakthrough in her life. God is good! All the glory and Honor goes to him.

Week #2 Day #1 - Nature & Character of God

After a week like the one we have just had, It would be rude of me not to want to share it with you.
This week we had a man named David Gava come to speak to us, David grew up in Zimbabwe in an environment where his family taught him to pray, fast & hear the voice of God from a very young age. He has an amazing life-changing encounter testimony of the saving, healing and resurrection power of Jesus Christ that set him free to walk into his destiny.
He carries a prophetic evangelist anointing with the heart for the father and desires to see people have a deep understanding of the Nature & Character of God so that they can be effective in making him known. His passion is to rise up a generation that is not ashamed of Jesus Christ who will preach the good news and see God's kingdom manifest in love and power in the nations of the earth. He loves witnessing and reaching out to unbelievers by hearing a specific word from God to address their need for salvation, healing and deliverance.
He has been serving with YWAM since doing his DTS in spring 1998 and has led schools of evangelism in Australia and Europe. He has been catalytic in the start of Kerusso school of the kingdom in Germany and Australia. He travels and ministers all over the world with YWAM and other ministries.

This past week he came to speak to my DTS on the Nature and Character Of God, the first day hearing him speak i was mind blown. I got six pages worth of notes just from the first day but still didn't manage to keep up with everything he was saying. Once he gets going, he really gets going!
I thought it would be only appropriate of me to share some of the notes i got from his teachings, but also recommend you to look him up online and find some of his teachings.

Your calling will cost you everything!

We quickly learned that hearing the voice of God isn't a gift you are born with, but a muscle you grow. A spiritual muscle. And we all know just like the muscles in your body, if you want them to grow you must work on them. Keep using them, pushing them to grow, getting into heavier weights and maintaining them or they'll slowly diminish. Our spiritual muscles are just the same, in order for you to have strength in your knowledge and wisdom you must work on it. Dive deep in to the word and prayer, yearn for a passionate relationship with God. And increase! You should never get to the stage where you think you have gone deep enough in everything and remain comfortable there. It's no fun when your in a position where you are comfortable and not growing. There is always so much more to find out. Everyday learning more and more about our God.
It also isn't complicated to hear Gods voice, religion complicates it. Find yourself in a place where everything else is silenced and allow God to speek to you.

The moment you say you love God, your saying you love the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. You cannot just love one on its own. For we pray to the father through Jesus by the Holy Spirit.

What you believe about God is how you see everything else.

God speaks to your spirit, not you. For you are a spirit that lives inside a body.

Who are you? Why are you here?
The moment you realize who you really are you become a threat to the powers of the darkness.
God is love, we are made in his image so we are not love, but have love. We are not God. So who are we? When we don't know who we are it effects how we see God.

Who are you?
What are your values?
Where do you belong?
What is your purpose?

"To think that we can find our identity, purpose and meaning in life apart from God is the deception of sin."
-Diane Kurtenbach

How do you see yourself? When you look in the mirror, do you like the person looking back at you? How do you think God see's you? If God told you how he sees you would you believe it? We need to start seeing ourselves how God sees us.
When we understand who God is, we understand who we are.
Boast about knowing God, not about yourself!
-Jeremiah Nine v Twenty Three-Twenty Five
This is what the Lord says:
"Don't let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone:
That they truly know me and understand that I am Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!

So this concludes day one, as i have reached the end of my notes thinking it was ALL my notes, only to realize it was my notes from day one.
I shall proceed with the rest of the week tomorrow.
I encourage you to ponder on the various questions throughout this post and really think about the answer..
God Bless

Week #1 YWAM Kona

ALOHA!
I think it's safe to say after a week of being here I am now settled in. Here in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
After a 9hr 45min flight from Sydney to Honolulu with a 2hr 30min wait in Honolulu airport before boarding our last flight of 45min to Kailua-Kona I finally made it!
I also think it's safe to say I have the best room i could possibly have, living with nine other girls doesn't seem as bad as it sounds.  Already i have made some incredible friends that as cheesy it sounds, i know will be in my life forever.
A brief run down on my first week, the second day of being here we had a hawaiian welcome and orientation day. Saturday was a fun day with our 'Engage DTS' where we all got split into different groups and had a big scavenger hunt around the town where we had to do all sorts of things with locals and tourists. Sunday morning we experienced a hawaiian church which happened to be right on the beach! Sunday night myself and a few of my friends went out for dinner to get burgers where Sarah (one of my new zealand friends) and I had out first American meal experience. It was indeed a perfect way to end the weekend before we got straight into routine the next day.
Breakfast is at 6.15am every morning, although my roomies and myself drag ourselves out of bed at 6.30am and just make it to breakfast before they start to pack it all up! Everyday after breakfast is a time for us to have our individual 'God time' where we generally do our bible studies. Such a great way to wake us up and start the day everyday, i highly recommend it to everyone. First thing in class we usually have something different every morning, whether it be worship, revivalist training or class intercession then we jump straight into our lectures that go till lunch time. This week we had a woman called Donna Jordan to speak to us on the topic of 'Listening to God'. She was such a woman of God and had some great messages to tell us. Was quite eye opening hearing stories she had to share and really put things into perspective on hearing Gods voice and how he talks to us. Donna would be speaking, then would suddenly stop and say "Im just seeing what God wants me to say next." And go from there every time she was speaking to us.
We have all absorbed so much information this past week, and there is still so much more we are yet to learn. I can't wait!
Jump back to Monday night we had Ministry night in the prayer room, where we have a time of worship which might i add was incredible, and pray for people. Over ten people got healed for all sorts of things, whether it be from headaches or a knee that had been injured for years!
Friday night we had a family night where our DTS hung out together and had desert (first time having desert since being here) the night ended up turning into a massive dance party. Had a bit of line dancing, group dancing, dance offs, ballet and breakdancing. I can tell the next six months are definitely going to be fun ones.

Bring on the weekend a group of us all went to 'Kua Bay' which is near mile 88 so you can't exactly walk there as it is quite a distance away from campus. Only solution is to hitchhike! I hitchhiked with three others which we thought was going to be an impossible adventure as we were still walking 8 miles later in the scorching sun, all dripping with sweat. Was quite a site! A lovely man picked us up and took us to the beach. Talking to him he said "Every Saturday I pick up at least three groups of ywamers and take them places as I go to and from work." Arriving at the beach was one of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen! On the way home it was a lot faster for us to get picked up. A young guy picked us up in his truck, got to sit in the back all the way home with out hair flying in the wind. I felt like I was in a american teenage movie!

All very tired after our first week, and long day in the sun with sunburn to add to it (don't tell mum)
I promise next post will be a bit more in-depth on the teachings, as for now, enjoy some photo's from the week!

And the adventure begins
